Walking around Badenweiler

Black Forest and the Swiss Jura

Schwarzwald

Throughout the region you will find a variety of well-groomed and well marked hiking trails. Directly from your hotel you can take on the 1165-metre-high Mountain Blauen Hike, from where in the autumn you can, , see all the way to the Four Thousand Metre Peaks of Switzerland. Or, visit the Nonnenmattweiher, originally a glacial lake, with its peat bog, where the carnivorous plant Sundew grows. If you want something Alpine, the 1414 meter high Belchen is a recommended destination for a day trip. Or take a day trip in the Swiss Jura mountains, with its countless possibilities for high-altitude hikes.

Vosges

Vogesen

Even the Vosges mountains, about an hour away, offer numerous opportunities for high– altitude hiking with some alpine character. Rocky hikes are luring experienced hikers. There you can find orchids and gentian violets, and with a bit of luck you may encounter a flock of chamois. To reward your efforts, you can take a break in one of the numerous Ferme Auberge, where you can receive a snack of fine “Bergkas”, “Munster” or “Fromage blanc” and a fine glass of Edelzwicker.

Markgräflerland and Kaiserstuhl

Kirschblüte

Anyone who has already wandered past the cherry blossoms at the Black Forest’s edge in springtime, or who has traversed the vineyard roads around the Badenweiler Markgräflerland and taken part in a wine tasting, should also take a trip to Kaiserstuhl , 40 Kilometres north. Approximately 550 meters high, this volcanic ridge in the Rhine valley is a well known wine growing area. In many places vintners and wine taverns will invite you in for a little.
